Did you know?
Did you know that if you already have one or two cats and you are planning on getting another one that it is important that you introduce the new cat to the other cats? This gives the other cats a chance to get use to the new cat. I had to go through it and it's a good thing I'm an easy going cat, the process can be humiliating.
My humans brought me home at twelve weeks old and left me in my pet carrier for my protection. The other two cats Ballou, she is 10 years old and Eve, she is 3 years old did not waste any time on letting me know who was boss. They started growling and hissing at me while walking around my pet carrier. I may be little but I just hissed back and let them know I just want to play and have fun and find a nice comfortable spot to nestle in. This went on for hours. Ballou telling me she is the upstairs cat and Eve telling me she's the downstairs cat. After a while Ballou and Eve started to settle down, they must have been very tired from all that hissing, I know I was.
My younger human kept me in her bedroom all night where I snuggled against her the whole night. I have never had such a big sleeping space ever! I miss the warmth of the other rescued kittens but I can get use to this.
In the morning, after I ate I was placed back into the pet carrier and Ballou and Eve went right into their growling dance again. Eve was more upset than Ballou this time. Eve tells me that my human's bedroom is where she spends her time at night. When Eve said she was the downstairs cat I did not realize that she meant the whole downstairs!
After an hour I was taken out of my carrier and made myself at home in my humans lap, yes I was still being hissed at but I did not let that bother me. I pretended to fall asleep and Ballou and Eve finally went away to do the same. I got the point, they were in charge and I'm at the bottom of the Totem Pole. I wonder if they want to play after they have their nap?
