Cats do not need to be bathed very often which is good because not all cats like to be bathed. I speak from experience two of our three cats definitely does not like it. If your cat does not like bathing it often good to get a helping hand to help out before you start.
Be prepared before you start bathing your cat. The equipment you will want to have to hand is a soft cloth, cat shampoo, pouring jug and a large towel. It is important to use only specially formulated shampoo made especially for cats, cat shampoo is available for purchase at all good pet stores.
You may brush your cats before starting to bath them, this seems to make sense to remove any excess dead hair. For long-haired cats I have seen it suggested to also brush carefully after bathing while the coat is still damp.
When bathing a cat the water should be luke warm and please make sure to test the water temperature before starting. As a gentle reminder, only use the recommended shampoo make especially for cats... Take care to thoroughly rinse your cat after washing as any residue could may be harmful and could cause problems if ingested.
After rinsing thoroughly wrap your cat in a large towel to dry off make sure to let he cats head show. Be sure to keep your cats warm and away from drafts after bathing until they are completely dry.
When its coat is dry we like to groom our so there coats are smooth and nice and shinny.
